Types
of variable
1. Qualitative variable:
The variables which assume non numerical values are called qualitative
variable. For example religion, education, profession, etc.
2. Quantitative variable:
The characteristics of an unit or item that are expressed in numerical form or
in numbers are called quantitative variable. For example, weight, length, size,
age, production etc.
Quantitative variable
can further be classified into two sub groups
(a). Discrete variable: The variables which
values can be expressed through a separate number are called discrete variable.
For example number of children of a family, obtained marks in examination etc.
(b) continuous variable: The variables
which values can not be expressed through a specific number are called
continuous variable. For example, Height, Weight, etc. -7
